Clinical Experience on Fortmicin(Astromicin sulfate) in Complicated Urinary Tract Infection

Abstract
|
|
|
Fortimicin, a new aminoglycoside antibiotic, was administered and the following results were obtained:
1. Fortimicin 200 mg twice daily was administered to 32 patients with complicated urinary tract infection intramuscularly for 5 days in principle.
Clinical results were excellent in 10, good in 15, moderate in 2, poor in 5, and overall effectiveness rate was 84.4%.
2. Bacteriological response to Fortimicin was eradicated in 27(79.4%) out- of 34 strains.
K. pneumoniae, E. cloacae, S. marcescens, A. anitratus, E. agglomerans and C. freundii were
all eliminated, whereas S. faecalis and P. vulgaris persisted. 3. No abnormality was observed objectively and subjectively.
